RSVP: Private research LIVE from Realtors EXPO

Home buyers, sellers, and fellow real estate innovators:  Wish you could attend the National Association of Realtors convention in Orlando this weekend but can’t?  Interested in participating virtually?

I arrive Friday mid-afternoon and plan to spend all four days visiting 500+ vendors at the Realtor Expo to identify “best of breed” money saving opportunities for home buyers and sellers. Last July, I acted as the LIVE BLOGGER at Inman New’s ConnectSF08 and am willing to provide private market research reports LIVE from the floor of the exhibit hall for a few select clients.

Are there are any vendors or competitors on this interactive floor plan you’d like me to check out?

As in the past, I can provide feedback by phone, email, text. This weekend, I hope to experiment with video, live or recorded, as well as screen sharing and video conference calls.

Fees begin at just $25 – $50 per vendor you’d like me to investigate depending on the research question and how you’d like the results presented. That modest fee would cover 15 to 30 minutes, additional time is negotiable.

Topic cloud for strategic planning issues in real estate

Posting this message from the blog room at the National Association of Realtors midyear convention in Washington, DC hoping some other industry innovators see it and decide to "meet-up" here sometime in the next 48 hours.  Also, hope others are interested in exchanging insights into promising new innovations in the blogosphere, like the topic cloud on RealEstateBlogSites.  Wonder what a convention topic cloud would look like if people were posting live from the conference?

This could be an interesting experiment: how about creating a topic cloud of issues covered in the NAR Strategic Planning Committee meeting earlier today?  That was a private meeting, by invitation-only, but it wouldn’t be hard to use blogs to speculate about the kinds of issues the industry and real estate consumers will face in coming years.  One good jumping off point for that discussion is Stefan Swanepoel’s report, Top 15 Real Estate Trends:  2006/7.  Or you can just jump in anywhere you like by posting a comment below.  What are the top 10 issues real estate professionals will face in the next five years?  How about the top 10 issues real estate consumers face?  Are they the same, or different?  If the latter, why?

Leaking results of savings survey

Convfloor_468For nearly a decade, one of my passions has been chasing the cutting edge of new business models online in real estate, identifying "best of breed" savings opportunities for home buyers and sellers.

Over the past six months that pursuit has led to hundreds of tradeshow booths at the Mass. Association of Realtors conference in September; the New England Mortage Brokers Association in October; the National Association of Realtors convention in November; Connect 2005, a real estate technology conference in January; and finally the International Homebuilders Association in January.  Now after five more weeks of updating a database of savings opportunities in 2000 vs 2005, it’s time to begin leaking those results of that comprehensive study of approximately 175 companies to current and potential clients through this blog.

Maintaining an industry wide "menu of savings" is an ongoing challenge.  We need your feedback so we don’t overlook a "best of breed" company or misunderstand someone’s "value proposition."  Beyond tracking those savings opportunities, our goal is to help seed a new generation of "embedded real estate
reporters" or citizen journalists. To do that, we will pay you to contribute in this experimental blog.  If you are a client, we’ll reduce your fee by $25 for each comment and $50 each comment that includes a photo or video clip.  For more details, call 617-661-4046 and ask about The Real Estate Cafe’s "tipping policy."
